Chris Norman - Greatest Hits (2008) [2CD]

Christopher Ward Norman is an English musician, first known for being the leader and voice of Smokie, a glam rock group he formed in the 1970s with colleagues from Bradford.
But the second thing and what concerns us here is that he has also carved out a long solo career, from his success in the 80s, going through the 90s in which his popularity dropped a lot and finally around 2000 in which he recovered.
He is still going strong today, with especially success in Germany (in Spain he is not so well known), I imagine partly because of his collaborations with the infamous Dieter Bohlen.
Chris Norman plays punchy soft rock (I prefer Smokie) with good moments like Love for Sale, Sarah (You Take My Breath Away), Hearts of Fire, Danny Code, Long Way Home, Miss Today, I Want You, Turn Right Turn Wrong and Lay Me Down. Stumblin' in with C.C. I like Catch less than the original with Suzi Quatro.

Pia Zadora - Pia Z (1989)

Pia Z is the sixth studio album by American singer-actress Pia Zadora, released in October 18, 1989 by CBS Records and produced by Narada Michael Walden.
"Heartbeat of Love" was released as a single and included club mixes by Clivilles & Cole of C + C Music Factory fame. "If You Were Mine" was issued as a promotional single only, and included "I Wanna Be Your Woman" as the second track.

Good pop music with a well educated singing voice. Pia is a strong singer, which some want to ignore because of all the gossip. Here she sings pop tunes by high class producers/writers such as Narrada Michael Walden. Very nice is "Kady", dedicated to her daughter.

Producers have tried to make her a rocker (Rock It Out), a pop star (The Clapping Song), and a high enery dance performer (Dance Out Of My Head).
I think she is best suited for adult contemporary style music.
Had great producers of that style of music such as Barry Manilow (who resurrected Dionne Warwick's career) or David Foster to name a few had worked with her, she would have had the success she deserved.

Track listing

All tracks composed by Liz Jackson and Narada Michael Walden; except where indicated

  1. "Heartbeat of Love"
  2. "I Wanna Be Your Woman" (Sally Jo Dakota, Narada Michael Walden)
  3. "Keep Me Inside Your Love"
  4. "You Made Me Want You"
  5. "Slam It" (Gigi Gonaway, Kevin Walden, Narada Michael Walden)
  6. "Eternally" (Jeffrey Cohen, Narada Michael Walden)
  7. "If You Were Mine"
  8. "I Am What I Am"
  9. "Floating Hearts" (Corrado Rustici, Jeffrey Cohen, Narada Michael Walden)
  10. "Kady" (Pia Zadora, Liz Jackson, Narada Michael Walden)
