Hello - The Best Of & Rarities (1999)

Hello is an English glam rock band. They originally recorded for the Bell Records label. The band's biggest success came in the UK and Germany in the mid-1970s, when their top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart were "Tell Him" and "New York Groove".

The core of Hello was founded around 1969, originally being called The Age. The band was started by Bob Bradbury, previously of The Flashback Berries, with Keith Marshall, Vic Faulkner, and Jeff Allen (brother of Chris Allen, alias Chris Cross of Ultravox). For about a year, they backed singer Caroline Hall, before renaming themselves as Hello in 1971. The group recorded "You Move Me" and "C'mon" in 1972 as well as "Another School Day" in 1973, all on Bell Records, although these were not hits.

Their biggest success arose in the UK and Germany in 1974 and 1975. Their top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart were "Tell Him" (a cover of The Exciters 1963 hit) and "New York Groove", the latter of which was written by Argent band member Russ Ballard. "New York Groove" was later covered to provide a solo Billboard Hot 100 chart hit in the United States, for the rock guitarist Ace Frehley of the band Kiss. In Germany, Hello's subsequent singles "Star Studded Sham" (another Ballard composition) and "Love Stealer" both reached the top 20, but failed to chart in the UK where glam rock had largely fallen out of favour.

Hello appeared in the 1975 film Side by Side. Their first album, titled Keeps Us Off the Streets, was soon released.
However, by 1979, with no recording contract, the band split up. Former guitarist Keith Marshall subsequently released a solo effort two years later, titled "Only Crying". It found a place in record charts worldwide. Bassist Vic Faulkner reappeared in the 2000s and releasing albums. He currently lives in Spain.

25 track retrospective of the '70s pop/ rock outfit's finest, including five previously unreleased cuts, 'Where's the Party', 'Hooray, Hooray', 'Let's Twist Again', 'Week-End Rendezvous' and 'Night Watcher'. 1999 release.

David Bowie - Christiane F./Baal/Rarities (1995)

Tracks 1-9 soundtrack Christiane F.
Tracks 10-12 en 18-20 Rarities met o.a. Engels-Franse versie van Heroes, en ook Engels-Duitse versie van Heroes!
Tracks 13-17 Baal

A mid-'70s West German film about a 14 year old's descent into drug abuse, prostitution, and general sleaze led to this 1981 soundtrack, comprised entirely of previously released songs from David Bowie's "Thin White Duke" period.
The bleak music of Bowie's collaborations with Brian Eno provides a fitting backdrop to the film, as his icy soul killer pose perfectly reflected the frozen and fragmented lives of Christiane and her gang: an "alternative family" taking respite in discos and underground train stations.
Removed from that context, the album is still enjoyable for the sheer quality of the songs. Its primary appeal, of course, is to Bowie completists, who will gush over the relative rarities "Heroes/Helden" (Bowie shifting from English to German in mid-song) and a live version of "Station to Station," as well as some magnificently extensive liner notes recapping both the film and the songs.
More casual yet devoted fans will be disappointed by the truncated "TVC-15" and "Stay" (the latter excising nearly all of Earl Slick's searing guitar pyrotechnics), but will gain some much-needed exposure to Eno's brand of atmospheric orchestration.
Despite the melancholia of Eno's wordless contributions and the film's dark theme, there are moments of levity to be found in "TVC-15" and "Boys Keep Swinging"; that mix of darks and lights makes the soundtrack to Christiane F.

Queen - The Miracle (Collectors Edition) (2022) [4CD]

33 years later Queen deliver the long lost original LP cut of classic 1989 album.

Presented in this beautiful 8-Disc Box Set, Made up of vinyl LP, 5CD’s and a DVD/Blu-ray.
Includes ’The Miracle Sessions’, containing over an hour of unreleased studio recordings including six previously unheard songs – plus intimate fly-on-the-wall audio of the band at work (and play) in the studio.

The Miracle Collector’s Edition brims with rarities, outtakes, instrumentals, interviews and videos, including the last interview John gave, from the set of the video for the hard-driving single ‘Breakthru’.

The richly packed box set also includes a lavish 76-page hardback book featuring previously unseen photographs, original handwritten fan-club letters from the band, press reviews from the time and extensive liner notes, with recollections from Freddie, John, Roger and Brian on both the making of the album and some of their most iconic videos.

The big reveal came in June 2022, when Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor teased the release of a song recorded more than 30 years ago and never before heard outside of the band’s inner circle. Face It Alone was demoed during sessions for The Miracle, the penultimate Queen album released in singer Freddie Mercury’s lifetime. That song is one of many treasures in this new box set.

Released in 1989, The Miracle has a poignant back story. As May would recall: “We were dealing with Freddie’s deteriorating health and pulling together to support him.” In these circumstances, Mercury delivered extraordinary performances, most powerfully in I Want It All and Was It All Worth It, the latter, for all its dry wit, now reading like a bittersweet farewell.

Alias Berger - Linke Liedjes (1975)

Little Feat - Little Feat Live Hellzapoppin [2022]

"HELLZAPPOPIN'" is 15 track 79 minute live concert import CD on the All Access label.

The concert was originally broadcast on Boston's WCBN FM Halloween Night October 31, 1975, and features the classic LITTLE FEAT line-up of Lowell George (guitar & vocals), Bill Payne (keyboards & vocals), Richie Hayward (drums & vocals), Paul Barrere (guitar & vocals), Kenny Grandey (bass) and Sam Clayton (percussion & vocals).

The band were on a North American tour supporting their recently released fifth long-player ' THE LAST RECORD ALBUM .'

Great live show by one of the greatest live bands of the 70s. Off an FM radio broadcast - original tapes or cassette off a tuner? - but sounds good enough and stunningly clear for the most part.
Almost 80 minutes of music including some songs rarely appearing on their live output - Long Distance Love, Day or Night, Romance Dance etc.
At the top of their game and sound like they're having fun too.

Eurythmics - In The Garden (1981)

Net als Your Time Will Come liet Caveman Head hierna een straf tempo en verheven zang horen.

Mazarati - Mazarati (1986) (S.E)

Mazarati was an American R&B, rock and funk band, formed in the mid-1980s and was active until 1989.
The band was seven pieces and included the former Prince and The Revolution bassist Brownmark. Originally hailing from Minneapolis, they became defunct as a group in 1989.
The band's sole hit was a song called "100 MPH", which was written and co-produced by Prince.

The band is notable for some of the songs that they did not release. They were originally given the song "Kiss" by Prince in demo form, with melody, lyrics and basic song structure. David Z worked on the song, "starting with a LinnDrum, I programmed the beat and began experimenting.
Taking a hi-hat from the drum machine, I ran it through a delay unit and switched between input and output and in the middle. That created a very funky rhythm.
Then I took an acoustic guitar, played these open chords and gated that to the hi-hat trigger. The result was a really unique rhythm that was unbelievably funky but also impossible to actually play... The background vocals I adapted from the Brenda Lee song 'Sweet Nothings' " The end result was, "a so-so dance number. "The guitar was dry and gated, and everything else sounded kind of different to the corporate rock that was on the radio at that time.”
Mazarati's backing vocals were retained on the final song which was released on Parade (1986). The song became a No. 1 hit single and Grammy Award winner. Another song given to Mazarati was an out-take from The Time called "Jerk Out".
Their take on the song never made the album, but the track was redone in 1990, once again with The Time who scored their biggest hit with the track, which reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.
Mazarati's backing vocals were also kept on the released version. Mazarati are name checked on the Prince penned Sheila E. track HOLLY ROCK.

Mazarati is a perfect example of a band that was expected to be huge but never enjoyed the commercial success it was supposed to.
When Brown Mark of the Revolution produced this self-titled debut album in 1986, the Minneapolis funk-rock sound was tremendously popular. Prince was a superstar, and disciples like the Time, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Ta Mara and Jesse Johnson had enjoyed major hits as well.
But for whatever reason, Mazarati wasn't the blockbuster that many R&B experts predicted it would be. Although not in a class with Prince's Purple Rain or the Time's Ice Cream Castle, Mazarati is decent and respectable, if derivative. Driving funk-rock items like "Suzy," "100 MPH" and "Player's Ball" aren't breathtaking, but they aren't anything to be ashamed of either. Also noteworthy are the psychedelic-influenced "Strawberry Lover" and the melancholy soul ballad "I Guess It's All Over."
An LP that shouldn't have fallen between the cracks, Mazarati been out of print since the 1980s but is worth picking up if you come across a copy somewhere.

The Art Of Noise - Daft As A Brush! (2019)

ZTT's Element series has seen numerous reissues in the form of deluxe edition albums, new compilations and the occasional single since its conception when the label started to reboot its back catalogue in 2010. Daft As A Brush! is Art of Noise's latest entry to the series, catalogued as Element 46 and is an exclusive Record Store Day 2019 release.

This four 12" vinyl set includes previously unreleased tracks along with others appearing on vinyl for the first time. Commencing with Beat Box (Diversions One to Six) we get the original 12" Beat Box (Diversions One and Two) on side one with Diversions Three through to Six on side two. Diversions Three and Four were first released on a New Musical Express cassette entitled Department Of Enjoyment in 1984. It was always a mystery as to why it never came out as a companion remix to the original 12". Now for the first time we can hear those two tracks alongside the original two with Diversion Five and Six, giving the listener a chance to enjoy the multipart series of Beat Box as a whole.

The second disc,Closer (To The Edit) traces the development of Close (To The Edit) that was itself a spin-off from Beat Box (Diversion Two). Kicking off with (St)art Of Noise, one is transported through an alterative journey through Art of Noise's biggest hit on ZTT as Close (To The Edge) via A Time To Hear (Who's Listening), 'Listen In' and 'Listen Out'. Ironically Close (To The Edit) was never reissued as a single after its initial releases around the world, so to get it as part of this set will be a dream come true for many fans.

Disc three, (Share) Moments In Love. Over the years Moments In Love has been reissued in one form or another, either as a standard re-release, picture disc, coloured 12" vinyl or as remixed editions and has appeared on numerous compilations since its original outing as part of Into Battle With The Art Of Noise. To some fans it has been re-released to death, for others it is a cult track gaining evermore popularity with it being played as part of chillout sessions in clubs, or sampled by other artists. This edition should appeal to everyone. The content on this record is exclusive to this set and contains Moments In Love (Original, Part One), Memento (Hymnal, Part One), Moment In Love (Spring Flowers), 'To The Death... For Life', Moments In Love (Original, Part Two), Memento (Hymnal Part Two), Autumn Leaves and 'For Life... To The Death'.

Disc four contains non-Art of Noise material by Trevor Horn and Paul Morley under the moniker Art& ACT, entitled Life's A Barrell Of Laughs. This failed/abandoned project was created when they tried to carry on as a sort of AoN II after the three key members, Anne Dudley, JJ Jeczalik, Gary Langan left ZTT and were enjoying commercial success around the world. The selection of tracks included here unintentionally disproves the early myth that Horn and Morley were the actual geniuses behind the group as the recordings lack the innovative ideas that were unique to Art of Noise. In some ways these tracks could have easily of been part of a third Buggles album, but to others can be heard as the forerunner to The Seduction Of Claude Debussy period that would see them reunite with Dudley alongside Lol Creme in the late 1990s as Art of Noise*. This disc nicely rounds off Horn and Morley's involvement with the AoN's early years as a project that had potential but never got off the ground. It is nice to hear all of these tracks in one place instead of being scattered over various releases as it gives the project some depth and meaning.
Overall this box set is a welcome addition to the Art of Noise's catalogue spanning almost thirty five years. The sound quality throughout this four part set is second to non. It is a joy to listen to all of these tracks on the intended format they were originally to have been released upon. As with all of the previous Element series releases, Ian Peel has compiled a set that mixes old favourites, with previously unreleased material that perfectly compliment each other, along with his informative sleeve notes show just how much care and thought has gone into the making of this set. Philip Marshall has done an excellent job with the design of the whole package, being faithful to the original XLZTT ethos and adding a new twist to it. Daft As A Brush! is a testament to Art of Noise's two year stint at Zang Tumb Tuum from 1983 to 1985 before "they dressed themselves" and showcases why they have been influential to many of the acts that have followed since their inception.

Man Parrish - The Best Of Man Parrish (1991)

Manuel Joseph "Man" Parrish (born May 6, 1958) is an American songwriter, vocalist and producer. He, along with artists such as Yellow Magic Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, Arthur Baker, Afrika Bambaataa, John Robie, Jellybean Benitez, Lotti Golden, Richard Scher and Aldo Marin, helped create and define electro in the early 1980s.

Parrish is a native New Yorker of Italian descent. He attended the High School for the Performing Arts and the Academy for Dramatic Arts (NYC) as a teenager. He moonlighted as a non singing, onstage "extra" role in several operas at the Metropolitan Opera House in Manhattan.

Parrish left home at the age of 14 and was a member of the extended family that converged nightly at Studio 54. His nickname, Man, first appeared in Andy Warhol's Interview magazine. Andy Warhol gave him the name "Man". His early live shows at Bronx hip-hop clubs were spectacles of lights, glitter, and pyrotechnics, which drew as much from the Warhol mystique as the Cold Crush Brothers.

His first release was "Hip Hop, Be Bop (Don't Stop)" issued in 1982, which has later been featured in the film Shaun of the Dead, the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City which sold millions of copies. It was sampled in Sway & King Tech's 1991 song "Follow 4 Now", from their second album, Concrete Jungle. His biggest chart success in the UK was his recording of "Male Stripper" with Man 2 Man, which peaked at No. 4 in the UK Singles Chart.

He eventually signed with Elektra Records via David Bowie's manager Tony DeFries who also managed his music career, but was dropped from the label in 1984, when they decided not to release the album he had recorded for them. Elektra signed him for dance music, his manager wanted him to create pop-rock.

He has mixed, produced and worked with various artists such as Boy George, Michael Jackson and Gloria Gaynor. He later served as the road manager for the Village People.

The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band Ft. Rick Vito - Blue Again (2008)

Blue Again is a live album by the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, featuring Rick Vito, released in 2008. It was recorded at The Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, Missouri on 8 February 2008.

The album represented a return to the blues music with which Fleetwood first found success, as a founding member of Fleetwood Mac in the late 1960s.
In the sleeve notes, he dedicated the album to his original Fleetwood Mac bandmates, Peter Green, John McVie and Jeremy Spencer, and to the legacy of Fleetwood Mac. Around half the tracks on the album were Peter Green compositions.
Fleetwood did not seek to copy the original Fleetwood Mac, rather to "pay it tribute by creating something both historically respectful yet new and invigorated."
To this end, he recruited former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Rick Vito, who had played on the Behind the Mask album in 1990, together with two relative unknowns, Lenny Castellanos and Mark Johnstone, to form the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band.
The band subsequently undertook a tour of the United States, and later in 2008, Europe, including an appearance at the Notodden Blues Festival in Norway.
The album was accompanied by a short bonus CD of studio recordings, including new versions of Green's "Albatross" and "The Supernatural", recorded in Nashville and Hawaii.

AC/DC - Transmission Impossible Legendary Broadcasts From The 1970s (2016) (Remastered-3CD)

RARE AC/DC RADIO AND TELEVISION BROADCASTS 1974 to 1979 ON 3 CDs It was in September 1974 when the legend that was Bon Scott joined the then still wet behind the ears AC/DC, formed the year before by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in Melbourne, Australia.
Over the next five and a half years Scott fronted the band and in tandem with the Youngs established the group as arguably the finest rock act in the world.
Bon s tragic passing in the early months of 1980 only served to strengthen AC/DC s fan base and appeal and across the next 35 or so years (and counting!) with perennial new boy Brian Johnson having taken on Bon Scott s role with both aplomb and dignity, DC have gone from strength to strength to strength.
But the Bon Scott years remain those that most adherents of the group remember most fondly and it is with this in mind that this 3 CD set has been produced. Featuring a number of radio and television broadcasts, made across the years between 1974 and 1979, it will stand as a superb tribute to Bon and the band and delight every fan still flying the flag.
Featuring the group s first ever radio broadcast in 1974 from their hometown of Melbourne, continuing with numerous TV appearances made in Australia and elsewhere in the early days, plus further broadcast from the US in 1977 and 1978, and including too a number of rare radio interviews with Bon, Angus and the others, this set is destined to become a first class collector s item and will find a pride of place in every AC/DC collection the world over.
